What was a Horn book? it was a paddle-shaped wooden frame on which was mounted a single sheet of paper or vellum (calfskin) featuring the alphabet, numbers and Lord's Prayer. The object's name, “horn book,” derived from the thin, transparent piece of cow's horn that served to overlay and protect the text. Some experts say they date back to the 14th century but most scholars say 16th century lasting until the 18th century.
Thanks to the ingenuity of Tommy Burnett, now you can have a handmade horn book that can be used as a tool to read someone's mind. Designed and handcrafted by Tommy Burnett, this is not only utility device but a lovely piece of art.
